MiOhMy’s Shoe Etiquette Tour: Atlanta

Saturday, I was able to join host Shamia, the owner of MiOhMy Shoes for a fun afternoon out to discuss one of our favorite topics SHOES! I got to learn some tips and tricks from an expert in the industry while sipping mimosas and snacking on cheese, crackers & fruit! I got the opportunity to receive assistance with proper shoe sizing & learn which style shoe suits me best. It was a lecture/classroom style room setup, but felt like you were chatting with a group of girlfriends in a intimate setting at Ecom Spaces, located not to far from The AUC . We each received a shoe bag, a shoe horn & a tee shirt before leaving. If you decided to bring a pair of shoes (like those 5 inch heels that have you walking like a newborn calf), this was the perfect time for you to learn the ways in which to wear them more comfortably.

I had a great time! I even ran into model, Crystal Nicole, owner of Virgo Nicole Collection & fellow influencer/blogger, Bevy Jae while there! They say that: “Shoes are the perfect addition to any outfit but sometimes wearing them comes with a price.” So if The Shoe Etiquette Tour makes it to your city, you should definitely grab a ticket, your favorite pair of shoes and your bestie and go!

Boss Babe Spotlight: Samira Harris!

Each & every Wednesday for “Woman Crush Wednesdays”, The Dean of Fashion & Beauty will select an entreprenHER to be featured in her “Boss Babe Spotlight” Series. This series has been curated to shine some light on the small businesses of women who are unapologetically and authentically being themselves while leaving a footprint behind in the world that they live in.

WHO’S UP NEXT?

Today, I am featuring: Samira Harris of Samira’s AM Creations! Recently, I had the chance to interview Samira and learn some new and exciting things about her. I want to thank her for taking the time to speak with me so that I could shine some light on all of her dopeness and share it with you all. I certainly look forward to continuing to curate, collaborate, create and celebrate with her in the future! If you are in the Philadelphia area, you can shower her with your love & support by placing an order for your next event; whether it be a baby shower, birthday party or wedding! Please tell a friend to tell a friend to tell another friend! Sit back, relax, pour a glass of wine and read about what she shared with me:

What do you want people to know about you and your business?

By day, I am an educator. Currently, I teach Special Education at an inner city public school located in Philadelphia.

By passion, I am a baker! Samira’s AM Creations was birthed from something that started off as just a hobby! Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoyed baking. As a child, I remember receiving my first Easy Bake Oven one Christmas and being hella esctatic! I’d bake treats for whomever would eat them; my mom, dad & brother were my test guinea pigs! LOL Over time, I started getting good at baking (obviously using a real oven) and my friends urged me to turn it into a business.

What drives you as a business owner?

I think that in this day and age, almost everyone at least has some sort of side hustle; whether it is to make ends meet or you realize that something you love to do just happens to be profitable. While, I can find myself somewhere in the middle, my drive to continue doing what I do is the end result: my beautiful yet tasty creations and pleasing my customers!

What kind of legacy/footprint do you want to leave behind?

I’d like to leave my footprint of being a black girl in her kitchen doing what she loves and bringing others joy! I take pride in knowing that my treats were apart of someone’s special event/day!

What knowledge would you like to impart on other small business owners, both new & aspiring and old & experienced?

1. Its ok to say no!

2. Be honest if something is too difficult for you.

3. Every dollar isn’t worth the hassle!

What does being a “boss babe” mean to you?

To me, it means pushing envelopes even when things seem impossible! It means having creativity and thinking outside the box! Lastly, it means being genuinely & authentically you no matter what!

If you had to pick a phrase to serve as your words of affirmation, what would it be?

“Be the best you you can be, nobody can tell or show you how to do it any better!”

Are there any other special gifts or talents that you have that you’d like to share?

Teaching is my superpower… what’s yours?

What do you want people to know about you and your business?

CAAB Customs sells culturally ratchet apparel that caters to those who want to make a bold statement with their fashion.

What drives you as a business owner?

Creativity brings me great joy! With Ideas flourishing instantaneously, my challenge lies in how to take a piece I’ve imagined and turn it into reality. I most enjoy making pieces that not only complement your beauty but bring positivity, joy and a hint of ratchetness to each customer.

What kind of legacy/footprint do you want to leave behind?

The legacy I want to leave behind is one that makes a statement of bold and carefree! I believe that everyone has the right to stay true and authentic to who they really are. CAAB Custom apparel is a way to express yourself without having to say a word.

What knowledge would you like to impart on other small business owners, both new & aspiring and old & experienced?

Don’t be intimidated or dismayed by the fact that your industry may be highly saturated. Find your lane and ride it until the wheels fall off. It’s ok to be inspired by others but it’s better to be authentic to you and your brand. Your customer base and real followers will always know when you’re not being genuine.

What does being a “boss babe” mean to you?

Being a boss babe means being a woman who isn’t afraid to be who God has called her to be. She is unapologetic in her decision to conquer the world on her terms.

If you had to pick a phrase to serve as your words of affirmation, what would it be?

To thine own self be true!

Are there any other special gifts or talents that you have that you’d like to share?

My creativity is unmatched!

Boss Babe Spotlight: Kayla Anderson!

WHO’S UP NEXT?

Today, I am featuring: Kayla Anderson aka “The Lush Diva”! Recently, I had the chance to interview Kayla and learn some new and exciting things about her. I want to thank her for taking the time to speak with me so that I could shine some light on all of her dopeness and share it with you all. I certainly look forward to continuing to curate, collaborate, create and celebrate with her in the future! You can shower her with your support by shopping her 3D Mink Lash Collection: Lashes by Lush or by subscribing to her YouTube reviews & hauls! Sit back, relax, pour a glass of wine and read about what she shared with me:

What do you want people to know about you and your business?

LushDivas’ Ltd Co, TheLushDiva.com, is a spot where any woman can stop by and pick up something that will help them grow in their confidence as a woman. This may be a new or Lush Thrift outfit; this may be a pair of mink lashes, or it may simply be catching up with one of our blogs for tips and tricks – but either way there’s something for all woman to help them grow in their self confidence and self love!

What drives you as a business owner?

As a business owner my clients really drive me. Even if there is 1 or 2 clients a day, I know they are counting on me – not just to sell them things but to provide quality service, and to be dynamic and growing! It also is very important to finish something that I started! Business is like a baby and you can’t just abandon it! So i’m definitely in business for the long run.

What kind of legacy/footprint do you want to leave behind?

I want to create an environment, especially here in my area, of women supporting women. When I’m gone, I want people to think of me personally – not just my business – as someone who was truly dedicated to helping women understand the power and beauty they hold within themselves and how to tap into it.

What knowledge would you like to impart on other small business owners, both new & aspiring and old & experienced?

Being the most important thing that I would want to share is that the key to any successful business is consistency and dedication. Progress doesn’t happen overnight you have to truly be invested in what you do, emotionally physically and spiritually. Business is a long tough road that requires you to give a lot – it’s like a relationship and you truly have to be in it for the long haul.

What does being a “boss babe” mean to you?

To me, boss babe is a woman who walks unapologetically in her purpose despite the level or achievements of the span of her career. When you’re a  boss babe that means that your goals and aspirations are inherently tied to personality,The way that you carry yourself and the way that you conduct your business. Being a boss babe means being that chick!

If you had to pick a phrase to serve as your words of affirmation, what would it be?

When I was 13, I heard this song by too short in which he said “get hype with it, it’s your chance” (lol I know right) but those words always resonated with me! I’m serious! You never know when your last moment will come and so do you want let it go by while your being scary and in a corner or do you want to step out in all your womanhood and take the chance to show out!

Are there any other special gifts or talents that you have that you’d like to share?

I don’t think I would even consider myself gifted or talented it’s just that once I have a vision for something I’m really dedicated to seeing it through and that consistency is really what people are seeing in the growth of my business and my brand.  it’s nothing special that you don’t have. if you dedicate yourself and you’re  consistent then you can show growth as well.

Boss Babe Spotlight: Adriene B!

What do you want people to know about you and your business?

The Boonie Breakdown podcast is your source for all things responsible and ratchet (trademark pending). I aim to host honest, candid conversations about sex, love, relationships, pop culture, feminism and a whole lot of other sh*t. I always want to encourage people to talk openly about  things that are sometimes considered taboo.

What drives you as a business owner?

The ability to do things in my own unique way and watch the response of others is what drives me. The Boonie Breakdown is my space to ideate, create, and execute all my bomb ass ideas. Even if things aren’t as successful as I’d like, I know that I tried and gave it a go.

What kind of legacy/footprint do you want to leave behind?

I want people to say I made them feel good, laugh or even try something new. Making human connections is one of the dopest things I have encountered on this journey! The community I am building, shout out to my ratchetteers, is phenomenal and that really drives me to go harder to leave behind great content.

What knowledge would you like to impart to other small business owners, both new & aspiring and old & experienced?

I would say be thankful for the audience/customers that you have NOW. I know we are in a world where large numbers matter and we all want to grow our audiences, but you have to be thankful and appreciative of the eyes and ears you have now.

What does being a “boss babe” mean to you?

Being a “boss babe” pushes past the fear and does the work to accomplish their goals. Being authentic to who you are as you navigate through life.

If you had to pick a phrase to serve as your words of affirmation, what would it be?

My granny would always say “Am it and Do it.” It reminds me to always just start it and get it done. Stop making excuses and do the work!

Are there any other special gifts or talents that you have that you’d like to share?

Hmmmmm, I am trying to think of some PG talents, LOL! But perhaps…

What does being a “boss babe” mean to you?

Being a “boss babe” means being about your business! Handling your business whether personal or professional, and doing it in a way that is thorough, on point and effective to the point that it makes a major impact on everyone involved. Being a “boss babe” means to me that whatever hurdles, hindrances, setbacks or storms that come your way, you withstand them with grit and grace.

What do you want people to know about you and your endeavors?

I want people to know that I am a fighter, a pusher and an overcomer. I believe with all of my might and I push my way to the finish line whether it’s a smooth sprint or an exhausting crawl. If I put my mind to it I give it all I got and there’s no stopping me. I like to do big things that make big impacts. I understand that it’s not all about me. Whatever I accomplish it’s not to just benefit me but to benefit those around me as well.

What drives you? What/Who is your WHY?

My passion for people drives me. My passion to help others through situations I’ve gone through. My passion to be a light to others and lift others up is what drives me. My son and my Legacy is my “why”. It’s important to show my son the importance of not giving up, work for what you want and build up others while you are doing it. I want to leave a Legacy that those after me will be proud of.

What kind of legacy/footprint do you want to leave behind?

I want my footprints to be a blueprint for resilience, strength, dignity, humility and LOVE. Love is my driving force through everything that I do. I struggled but I still loved. I was hurt, betrayed, lied on, talked about, abandoned, and misunderstood, but I still loved. I felt unloved, but I still loved. I felt alone and I felt at times I would never be successful, but I still loved and made sure others didn’t feel alone, and I helped others in their success as if it was my own. Love kept me resilient, strong and humble.

What drives you as a business owner?

The difference I make in someone else’s life drives me to keep going. At times I want to give up but then I’ll get a message from someone saying I inspired them to be more confident or to try something new. These messages warm my heart and let me know that I can change lives just by being who I am and doing what I love.

Sit back, relax, pour a glass of wine and read about what she shared with me:

What do you want people to know about you and your business?

Hello! My name is Tiffany Smith, and I am a plus-size lifestyle blogger and content creator based out of North Carolina.  I promote body positivity and women empowerment through style, beauty, and fashion. My website (www.beautiffullyme.com) is a platform for my blog, YouTube channel, and merchandise. My viral Instagram page is a reflection of all of my interests and services outlined for my audience to enjoy. I often create “Get Ready with Me,” “Behind the Scenes,” and “DIY Tutorial” videos showcasing how to recreate my tips or outfits. As a content creator; I provide creative solutions for my clients. My fashion aesthetic, creativity, and visual creations assist with visibility and funneling sales for myself, and I wanted to extend my services with others! I started Beautiffullyme LLC last year once I recognized my passion for offering apparel and social media strategies. I felt that I needed an umbrella company that could grow with me, and I’m so happy to have trusted myself. This first year has been amazing!

What drives you as a business owner?

My clients! Their success is a reflection of my success!! When I get an email that an item I promoted has sold out or when I get a photo of a woman, who was previously ashamed of her body, rocking my signature “Free The Fupa” crop top; so much joy covers me! It’s so validating and a true blessing to love what I do so much. I love empowering other women and being someone they can look to for “if she can do it, I can do it too!” inspiration.

What kind of legacy/footprint do you want to leave behind?

When I leave this earth, I want my name and brand to bring joy to those who think of me. An interesting fact about memories is that over time, we forget the details and remember the feelings surrounding our thoughts. With Beautiffullyme, I want to entice the sense of positivity, laughter, and happiness; with women all over the world. Improve their personal feelings toward themselves, facilitate self-love across my platform, and give women the tools they need to live their best lives.

What knowledge would you like to impart on other small business owners, both new & aspiring and old & experienced?

You. Can. Do. It!!!!! When starting a new business venture, there are so many things to consider from the font of your logo to the items that you will sell. It’s easy to become overwhelmed, attempting to compete in the business world. Take a breath, remember why you decided to start, and conquer things little by little. I started offering social media services to assist other small business owners when I recognized the need. Everything seemed so expensive when I started, and I want to provide affordable solutions for other small business owners. Websites, media kits, and Instagram algorithm solutions have been some of my top sellers!

If you had to pick a phrase to serve as your words of affirmation, what would it be?

My “Beauties” have read and heard me say:  “Change your mindset, change your life.” I LIVE by this saying. No matter what you are going through, having a positive mindset will improve your circumstances.

Are there any other unique gifts or talents that you have that you’d like to share?

I’m good at visuals and editing. It’s a skill that I had no idea I had until recently. I’m incorporating my natural talent into my business by offering a video for my clients. I also create behind the scenes videos to showcase the “process” behind a pretty picture. Proof that you never know what you are capable of until you try!
